Assistant Manager / Senior Executive – Scientific Regulatory Affairs

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring that all bakery product within portfolio comply with domestic and international regulatory requirements, including packaging, ingredient declarations, nutritional information (NI), and export documentation. The role supports global market access through accurate label approvals, regulatory submissions, and compliance management across multiple geographies.

Role & Responsibilities

• Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with domestic regulations governed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.
  • Ensure adherence to international regulatory frameworks including:
    • Food and Drug Administration (USA)
    • European Food Safety Authority (EU)
    • Australia food regulatory standards and other country
  • Verify compliance with country-specific export requirements.
• Packaging & Labelling Compliance
  • Review and approve- Ensure all mandatory labelling elements are accurate and compliant:
    • Product labels
    • Ingredient declarations
    • Nutritional Information (NI)
    • Packaging artworks
    • Allergen declarations
    • Legal warnings and claims
    • Barcodes and regulatory symbols
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Design teams to ensure compliant artwork development.
• Artwork & Change Management
  • Maintain version control of packaging artworks across SKUs and export markets.
  • Assess regulatory impact of
    • Recipe/formulation changes
    • Packaging modifications
  • Implement updates in line with new or revised regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely rollout of label changes across all applicable markets.
• Regulatory Intelligence
  • Monitor global regulatory updates and evolving food laws.
  • Interpret regulatory changes and assess impact on current product portfolio.
  • Communicate regulatory updates to cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain updated regulatory databases and compliance documentation.
• Cross-functional Coordination
  • Collaborate with:
    • R&D (product development & innovation)
    • Quality Assurance (QA)
    • Procurement
    • Marketing & Design teams / Buyer
• Audit & Compliance Support
  • Support internal and external audits (regulatory and customer audits).
  • Ensure documentation readiness for inspections and certifications.
  • Maintain and update SOPs related to labeling, packaging, and export compliance.

Eligibility Criteria

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
  • Food Technology
  • Food Science
  • Dairy Technology
  • Pharmacy

Experience

• 4–6+ years of experience in:
  • Regulatory Affairs
  • Food Labelling
  • Export Compliance (preferably in bakery products – biscuits/cakes)

Key Skills

• Strong knowledge of:
  • Food regulations and global labelling standards
  • Ingredient compliance and nutritional calculations
• High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Understanding of export procedures, customs regulations, and buyer requirements
• Strong integrity, mutual trust, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Familiarity with packaging artwork workflows
• Knowledge of multi-country compliance (US, EU, Middle East, Australia, etc.)
